Gas Prices

I believe gas prices are artificially inflated to create profits for this administration's oil buddies. It's not inconceivable. Enron created phony energy crises in California to increase its profits. Anyway, something needs to give, gas is ridiculously high!

That's the only reason that I can think of for prices to go UP after the Saudis dramatically increase production. These folks are like ones at the last hour of an open bar. They're trying to get as much in as they can. The only trouble is that we'll be waking up with the hangover.

Right you are. As long as the United States refuses to take actions to reduce fossil-fuel dependence in the long term, such as dramatic improvements in mass-transit funding, massive development of solar power and the like, we're contributing to the runup in oil prices. This doesn't seem like rocket science. Of course the people who control the energy supply are not going to give it up without a fight. But Americans don't usually back down from a good battle, especially one with such unbelievable benefits.

^laurel: i'm not sure the saudis are the solution.

^nate: welcome. i'm with you on us needing to reduce consumption. it's almost like we've built this monster and now we can't control it. sell more cars and build more suburbs -- make cities sprawl. look at l.a. you can't do anything without a car there.
