I really enjoyed it. Yes it's totally a fantasy but that's why we go to the movies, right? And nice to shout out Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock! Times have changed when white people are bonding over It Takes Two and not

I love movies and some of the people who make them :)
My favorite actors of the female persuasion are:
Meryl Streep - brilliant.
Cameron Diaz - great taste in film roles.
Sanaa Lathan - phenomenal and under-appreciated.
Sandra Bullock - she's really funny, which is a great compliment.
Alfre Woodard - love. her.
Julia Roberts - she's still got something that is kind of magnetic. I liked Duplicity even after I got confused.
Dame Judi Dench - she's awesome.
Gwyneth Paltrow - I wish she was in more stuff!
Toni Collette - always great.
Debra Messing - crazy funny.
Regina King - um, Southland?? Bring it back!

I love Steven Soderbergh but I didn't really get this movie. I found the characters boring but I really loved the idea of The Girlfriend Experience. It's kind of random and I wish the conversations had been scripted -- especially if they weren't going to use real actors -- because it just kind of feels awkward and student film-ish. A for effort.

And I'm loving Mad Men. Kudos to my homeboy, Jon Hamm. He was incorrigible last episode -- or at least Don Draper was. Yikes. Poor Sal. Mad Men is just about the best thing on tv. Incredible. And civil rights is just around the corner...

I love Glee on Fox and Modern Family on ABC. Yes, they come on at the same time -- a conundrum. I dvr Modern Family and Cougar Town (which I'm on the fence about) and watch Glee. And since they just did a Jill Scott song, I love it even more. Jane Lynch for Best Actress. She's just about as funny as any working actress. She was hilarious in Role Models and The 40 Year Old Virgin and she's funny in this.

The only drama I was looking forward to on that network has been canceled before it began the season. To let you know how out of touch NBC is, they think it's better to go with Jay Leno every night than the one good drama they've done in years. They're a lost cause outside of The Office and 30 Rock. Booo!

Terrible start to play offs. I guess we're gonna Cub-out and get trounced. Yes, this team over-performed all year -- Carp and Wainwright (who was awesome tonight) were spectacular as were the trades to bring in DeRosa, Holliday and Lugo, but if you make the playoffs, it's nice to win. History suggests that they won't come back from two down...I'd like to think they will but...I have my doubts.

Yeah, I know...I knew this would happen. I would announce that I'm not blogging and then I'd have something to blog about.
I was just thinking today as a co-worker droned on about personal things during a work-related phone call, when did people start oversharing? And why do we think it's okay? We assume that all of this chatter that "sounds" self-reflective is deeply thought out but the truth of the matter is, most people just like talking about themselves. And that's not all that deep. In fact, it's annoying. I'm not talking about the things people say that really ARE proof they've done some self-actualization, I'm talking about the random statements like "I've got commitment issues" or "I didn't know I who I was until I had kids." What? That's like the cotton candy of personal growth-speak. And when you really listen closely you realize there's nothing self-reflective about it because you didn't really say anything. So if that's you, stop it.
Rant. Over.

I'm pretty sure I'm done blogging -- at least this blog. 4,000+ posts and I'm over it. I created it to try to bring to light so much of the political news that the mainstream media seemed to not want to talk about during the Bush years. And then I peppered that with my non-stop commentary because who doesn't want to hear that? I know, right :) It's been a blast and I'm thankful for the many supporters I've had over the years. I may post something occasionally but I know the five posts a day times are done. Thanks again and I'll see you...
